The Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan, a leader in Next Generation Sequencing, is implementing the use of the Fragment AnalyzerTM as part of their research services efforts. Advanced Analytical Technologies, Inc. (AATI), an Ames, Iowa-based analytical instrumentation company, makes the Fragment Analyzer.
"We decided on the Fragment AnalyzerTM after considering our laboratory needs and consulting with our research partners", said Dr. Mei-yeh Lu, Assistant Research Specialist and Core Laboratory Manager, Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica. “As a core facility that allows access to our instruments, we recognized the many conveniences the Fragment Analyzer™ offers over other platforms. With the ability to hold up to 3 x 96 well sample plates and 2 different gel formulas, researchers who are separating different nucleic acids can use the instrument seamlessly. This is a tremendous time saver by eliminating the need for us to answer questions regarding the instrument availability and for the researcher to walk the halls needlessly. Realistically, we believe that the Fragment Analyzer will be in constant use by our scientists from around the Institute."
"The Fragment Analyzer has unique design features that can provide significant benefits to researchers and scientists, especially at facilities where our instrument may be shared,” said Dr. Steve Lasky, CEO of Advanced Analytical. “As scientists, we understand the importance of having access to an instrument and being able to queue up samples for analysis. Nothing is more frustrating than having to wait on an instrument. With its design features, the Fragment Analyzer™ can improve laboratory workflow and organizational efficiencies such that samples can be run continuously and without intervention. This is unheard of in most instruments and is why many laboratories around the world are quickly adopting it. We are pleased to be working with the Academia Sinica."
